Today Pick Strategies
Today’s Pick chooses one wearable scent from your collection. A strategy changes how eligible scents are ordered, while your collection and current filters still decide what can be picked.
Choose a preset
Section titled “Choose a preset”- Open Settings.
- Tap Today Pick.
- Choose a preset.
- If you use Favorites, Balanced, or Custom, set the favorite rest period when you want a favorite to become fresh again.
The change is saved immediately. Today, the Home Screen widgets, and the Apple Watch use the same effective strategy before a wear. Once a live session or logged wear exists, those adaptive surfaces show the real current state instead of advancing to another recommendation.
Presets available to everyone
Section titled “Presets available to everyone”| Preset | What it emphasizes |

| Surprise Me | A stable fresh shuffle for the day. |
Balanced is also the safe fallback whenever a saved Pro strategy is temporarily unavailable.
Presets that need Pro
Section titled “Presets that need Pro”Pro adds Explore Samples, Finish Bottles, Match My Day, Most Complimented, New Additions, and Custom.
Build a Custom strategy
Section titled “Build a Custom strategy”Custom separates priorities from filters:
- A priority raises matching scents but still allows others to rotate in.
- A filter limits which scents are eligible.
For example, Preferred families as a priority gives those families a boost. Preferred families only as a filter removes other families from the candidate set.
Custom can combine priorities, exact family, shelf, and format filters, a low-stock exclusion, and a rotation breadth of 3, 5, 10, or all eligible scents. The screen shows how many scents match and warns when the filters leave no candidates.
What else affects the pick
Section titled “What else affects the pick”- The occasion filter on Today can narrow the eligible scents for that visit.
- Logging the pick changes the visible Today focus to the saved wear. The strategy still supplies Another pick when another eligible scent exists.
- Swapping suggestions, changing the occasion, changing the strategy, changing the collection, midnight, or a manual refresh can recalculate the current or alternate pick.
- Weather can add useful context to the reason, but it does not change which scent wins.
- Preferred families and seasonal matches do not permanently exclude the rest of your shelf unless you add an explicit Custom filter.
- Opening Formulas from Today does not recalculate the pick. Closing Formulas returns to the same vertically scrolling Today page, which stays fixed side to side in every saved card layout.
- Rearranging cards from their rounded six-dot drag grips changes only the Today layout and does not recalculate the pick.
- If the journal changes while Today is not visible, Today returns with its last complete cards, applies the collected changes once, and recalculates the pick only when the updated evidence requires it.
Even with only two eligible scents, the rotation alternates rather than repeatedly choosing one preferred or seasonal match.
Sync behavior
Section titled “Sync behavior”With iCloud Sync, the selected preset, Custom choices, and favorite rest period follow your Orrique preferences across devices. Each surface resolves the saved choice against the Pro access available at that moment.
If a device appears to use a different strategy, open Settings, Today Pick on that device and confirm that iCloud Sync has refreshed. The saved Pro configuration remains intact while Balanced is acting as a fallback.
