Frequently Asked Questions
These are quick answers. Each one points to the canonical guide when the full workflow matters.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”What is Orrique?
Orrique is a private journal for fragrances you own, try, want, and wear. It combines collection tracking, a diary, daily suggestions, insights, and sharing across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no separate Orrique login. Choose Local Only or use the iCloud account already on your device. See Getting Started.
Is Orrique free?
Yes. Core collection, diary, Today, backup, and discovery tools are free. Pro adds advanced tools. See Free vs Pro.
How do I add a fragrance?
Open Collection and tap the add button. Search the catalog, enter details, or use Read Bottle on iPhone or iPad. Review suggestions before saving. See Your Collection and Read Bottle.
Data and sync
Section titled “Data and sync”Where is my data stored?
Local Only keeps the journal on one device. iCloud Sync keeps it in your private iCloud and across supported devices. See iCloud and Sync.
Can I use Orrique offline?
Yes. Collection and diary work from local data. Sync, catalog lookup, weather, support, and community work catch up when a connection returns.
Why does a new device look empty?
The first iCloud download can take time. Confirm the same iCloud account and active iCloud Sync, then use Check for synced changes in Settings, Data and Sync. Review Last iCloud activity and any retry message. Avoid adding duplicate copies while the original journal is arriving.
Should I still create backups?
Yes. A full backup is a useful recovery copy even with iCloud Sync. It is readable and unencrypted, so save it privately. See Backup and Export.
Pro and AI
Section titled “Pro and AI”What does Pro unlock?
Pro adds advanced insights, Today strategies, calendar planning, unlimited Ask Orrique and Read Bottle use, selected written reads, deep Share Studio editing, and more. See Free vs Pro for the maintained list.
How do I restore or cancel Pro?
Open Settings, the Pro area, then Subscription. Restore Purchases checks the same App Store account. Manage Subscription opens Apple’s billing and cancellation page. See Pro Subscription.
Which features use AI?
Ask Orrique, written profiles and drafts, selected coaching reads, and Read Bottle cleanup can use Apple Intelligence. Scent Twin is local matching and does not need it. See AI Features.
Why is an AI feature missing?
The device may not support Apple Intelligence, Apple Intelligence may be off or preparing, Pro may be required, or there may not be enough source data. Manual fallbacks remain where supported. See Device Support.
How many Read Bottle scans are free?
The free plan includes 3 scans in total. Pro makes scanning unlimited. See Read Bottle.
Logging and Today
Section titled “Logging and Today”How do I log a wear?
Use Today, Diary, a fragrance page, a widget, Siri, or Apple Watch. Choose Log as usual for a fast entry or the full form for more detail. See Diary.
What is a live wear session?
It tracks one wear from the first spray through later check-ins. The in-app session works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. iPhone and iPad can also show a system Live Activity. See Diary and Device Support.
How is Today’s pick chosen?
It selects from fragrances you can currently wear using the chosen strategy, eligibility, context, and rotation. Weather can add supporting context when enabled. See Today.
Sharing and privacy
Section titled “Sharing and privacy”Is my diary private?
Yes. Private sync uses your iCloud when enabled. Community performance sharing and catalog contributions are separate choices. In a fresh full setup, their visible switches begin on, can be turned off independently, and require their own disclosure and Agree action before sharing starts. An untouched Skip Setup leaves them off. See Privacy and App Lock.
What does App Lock do?
It protects the on-screen app with Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode after Orrique has been in the background. There is no custom delay setting. It is a screen barrier, not file encryption.
Devices and support
Section titled “Devices and support”Does Orrique work on Apple Watch?
Yes. The Watch supports quick logging, Today, live-session actions, and glanceable widgets through its paired iPhone. See Apple Watch.
How do I contact support?
Use Contact Support in the help center. In the app, open Settings, Help & Support, then Contact support. Pending sends remain visible so they can retry.
