Troubleshooting
Start with the symptom you can observe. Avoid deleting the app or changing storage mode until you understand where the current journal is stored and have a separate backup when possible.
The app is slow to load
Section titled “The app is slow to load”A new device using iCloud Sync must download the journal before Collection and Today can fill in. Keep Orrique open on a reliable connection and check Settings, Data and Sync for progress.
If the first loading view ends before data appears, continue with the missing entries checks. Do not create duplicates while another device still shows the journal and the first download is unresolved.
Collection or Diary entries look missing
Section titled “Collection or Diary entries look missing”- Clear search, status, and filter choices in Collection or Diary.
- Open Settings, then Data and Sync, and read the current iCloud status and item counts.
- Confirm this device uses iCloud Sync rather than Local Only.
- Confirm every synced device uses the same Apple Account and has a working connection.
- On iPhone, iPad, or Mac, choose Check for synced changes and leave Orrique open while counts update.
See iCloud and Sync before switching modes. See Backup, Import, and Export to create or restore a separate recovery file.
Changes are not appearing on another device
Section titled “Changes are not appearing on another device”Confirm both devices use iCloud Sync with the same Apple Account, then allow time for each device to upload and download. Use Check for synced changes on iPhone, iPad, or Mac to apply anything already imported and review Last iCloud activity. CloudKit controls transfer timing, so this check does not claim to force an immediate download.
If Recovery choices appears under Data and Sync, open each item and choose the version you want to keep. If Sync retry needed appears, retry the safely queued supporting changes after checking the connection and iCloud account.
One queued item does not mean every supporting change has stopped. Orrique continues a bounded pass across independent items, removes each confirmed save from the queue, and leaves only the failures ready for another retry.
Weather is missing
Section titled “Weather is missing”- Open Settings, then Weather, and turn on automatic weather.
- Allow While Using the App location access in system settings.
- Log or open a current wear after permission is available.
Weather is captured when relevant rather than added to every old entry. Orrique stores the resulting weather with the wear, not a precise location history.
An AI helper is missing
Section titled “An AI helper is missing”Check AI Features for the exact compatibility matrix, then confirm:
- The device and system version support the requested path.
- Apple Intelligence is on and has finished preparing when the feature needs it.
- The feature’s plan requirement is met.
- The collection or Diary has enough evidence for a grounded result.
The manual Ask Orrique advisor and deterministic recommendation paths can still work without Apple Intelligence. A generated draft can remain unavailable while its non-generated feature continues to work.
The enhanced background removal model will not install
Section titled “The enhanced background removal model will not install”Standard background removal does not require the optional model and remains available after an installation failure.
- If the enhanced model disappeared after updating Orrique, download it once again. The update discards older compiled caches that do not have a verification receipt.
- Confirm the device has a reliable internet connection.
- Keep at least 160 MB free while the model downloads and prepares.
- Open Settings, Device Storage, then choose Download Enhanced Model again.
- If the same message returns, use Contact support and include the exact installation message.
Orrique accepts only the verified asset pinned into the app and discards an incomplete or unverified download before the next attempt. A failed update does not replace an already verified installation. See Device Storage and Offline Use for storage details.
Pro is not unlocking
Section titled “Pro is not unlocking”Orrique Pro follows the App Store account and entitlement, not the iCloud journal.
- Open Settings, then Subscription.
- Choose Restore Purchases.
- Confirm the device uses the Apple Account that purchased or shares the subscription.
- If verification cannot reach the App Store, check the connection and try again later.
See Orrique Pro for purchase, Family Sharing, management, and cancellation details.
A photo will not attach
Section titled “A photo will not attach”Use an actual image with Paste Image, Photo Library, Choose File, or drag and drop where supported. If a transfer fails, the editing form stays open so you can retry another source.
Read Bottle also needs camera permission. The first three reads are free, then unlimited scanning needs Pro. Reaching that plan limit is different from a failed camera or image import. See Read Bottle.
Orrique asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode
Section titled “Orrique asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode”App Lock is on. Authenticate on the lock screen, or open Settings, Privacy after unlocking to change the option. The setting is per device and does not apply to Apple Watch.
See Privacy and App Lock for timeout and device behavior.
The app will not launch or keeps closing
Section titled “The app will not launch or keeps closing”Try these in order:
- Force quit Orrique and reopen it.
- Install the latest compatible system and Orrique updates.
- Restart the device.
- Contact support before reinstalling if you cannot confirm an iCloud copy or a usable full backup.
Apple Watch is empty
Section titled “Apple Watch is empty”Apple Watch receives a lightweight snapshot from the paired iPhone rather than downloading the journal from iCloud itself.
- Open Orrique on the paired iPhone with the Watch nearby.
- Confirm the Watch and iPhone are connected.
- Allow a moment for the snapshot to transfer, then reopen the Watch app.
See The Apple Watch App for logging, Today’s Pick, live check-ins, and complication behavior.
Still stuck
Section titled “Still stuck”If Orrique opens, export a full backup before another risky recovery step. Then open Settings, Help & Support, Contact support and include what you observed, the affected device, and any status text. Optional diagnostics can help support distinguish sync, account, permission, and device problems.
