Your First Month with Orrique
Orrique gets better the more you log. That also means the first days can feel quiet: the Atlas, your scent year, and cost per wear fill in only after you have entries. This guide is an honest map of the first month, so you know what to do each week and, just as important, what not to expect yet.
Day 1: add the scents you actually reach for
Section titled “Day 1: add the scents you actually reach for”Resist the urge to catalog the whole shelf on day one. Add the five or so scents you actually wear in a normal week. Those are the ones you will log, and logging is what feeds everything else. The rest of the shelf can arrive whenever you feel like it, from the plus button in Collection.
Each addition is a short three-step flow: Identify, Confirm, and Personalize. Searching the catalog and entering details by hand are always free, and you get 3 free bottle scans to try Read Bottle.
One tip worth taking on day one: on the Personalize step, add the bottle size and price if you know them. Cost per wear and the Best Value card are built from prices saved on your fragrances and containers, so a price entered now pays off later.
Week 1: log a wear every day

Open Today. Your daily pick sits at the top.

Tap Wear on the pick to log it in one tap, or open the Diary and tap the plus button to log any fragrance with the full form. Choosing a scent and saving is enough; every other field is optional.

Come back the next day and rate yesterday’s wear when Orrique offers it.
The next-day rating matters more than it looks. A same-day rating captures the opening and the main wear, while the next-day rating captures longevity and what remained. The two stay separate, and together they are what teach Orrique how a scent actually performs on you, not just how it smells in the first hour.
Every entry also builds your streak, your history, and the evidence the Scent Atlas will draw on later. Setting the mood on a wear is worth the extra second: it stays part of the entry and later feeds the mood-based cards on Today. If remembering is the hard part, the morning scent prompt and the next-day rating reminder in Settings can carry it for you.
Week 2: what starts appearing, and what stays quiet
Section titled “Week 2: what starts appearing, and what stays quiet”Around now, the app starts to answer back in small ways:
- Suggested prefill chips can begin offering an occasion, mood, placement, or typical performance drawn from your own history. A new journal shows none until there is enough history, so their arrival is a sign the journal is taking shape.
- Today’s supporting cards appear as their underlying signal exists. Note preferences need repeated note evidence, and Best Value needs price and wear history. Cards with no data yet stay out of the way, and the rest reflow, so you never see a blank hole.
Plenty stays quiet, and that is by design. Atlas cards stay quiet until there is enough evidence for them, and the Gap Finder appears only after there are enough wearable fragrances to evaluate. A brand-new collection will look empty in these views until the entries exist. That is expected, not a bug, and there is nothing to fix or configure. Keep logging.
Month 1: the payoff
Section titled “Month 1: the payoff”With a few weeks of entries, the Scent Atlas has something real to show:
- The Wheel reflects what you reach for, not just what the catalog says. Your family mix, leading notes, and collection fingerprint grow stronger as wears add personal evidence.
- The Year lens turns each day into a heatmap square colored by the main family you wore, with quick totals for days worn, total wears, and your busiest month, plus a weekly rhythm chart.
- Your Scent Portrait gives your fingerprint a plain-language name and three short observations. It uses what you own and what you wear, so it changes with the journal.
- Cost per wear, in the Pro Value lens, can show best value and cost per wear after enough wears, using the prices you saved back on day one.
- Scent Wrapped appears once the collection has enough to show, and its pages become richer as you keep logging through the year.
A month is a strong start, not the finish line. The patterns keep sharpening as the year fills in, which is exactly why the daily one-tap log is the habit worth keeping.
