# Widgets and Controls > Add Orrique widgets to the Home Screen, desktop, or Lock Screen, pin a scent, and configure one-tap controls safely. Level: Beginner · Reviewed: 2026-09-08 · Canonical page: https://help.orrique.com/Widgets_And_Controls/ Widgets keep your active wear, latest logged scent, prepared pick, a pinned scent, your rhythm, a rating prompt, low stock, or your scent fingerprint visible without opening Orrique first. Controls provide direct actions such as Quick-Log or opening the Layering Room, and the app icon itself offers quick actions on iPhone and iPad. ## Use Home Screen quick actions Touch and hold the Orrique app icon on the iPhone or iPad Home Screen to jump straight into the three fastest ways to capture something: - **Log a Wear** opens the log sheet on Today, ready to record a wear. - **Add a Fragrance** opens the add screen so a new scent goes straight onto your shelf. - **Quick Log a Try** opens the tiny capture sheet for a scent you just smelled in passing: jot the name, optionally the brand and a one-tap verdict, and finish the details later from the collection's To finish filter. Quick actions are free, work whether or not Orrique is running, and wait for your journal to load (and App Lock to be unlocked, if it is on) before opening their screen. They are not available on Mac; the [Mac App](https://help.orrique.com/Mac_App/) offers the same actions through its menus and the menu bar item. ## Add a Home Screen or desktop widget 1. Touch and hold the Home Screen on iPhone or iPad, or open the desktop widget gallery on Mac. 2. Choose the add-widget control and search for Orrique. 3. Pick a widget and supported size. 4. Place it and finish editing. Tap a widget to open the matching place in Orrique. Scent of the Day adapts its actions: **Wear it** before a wear, **Tracking** and **Check in** during a live session, **Layer** after a single-scent wear, or **Formulas** after a combination. The Layer action opens The Layering Room with the displayed fragrance already selected. The Scent Fingerprint widget follows the same active, worn, then pick priority. These adaptive widget states are available to Free users. They only summarize journal and session data already on the device and do not run the full pairing engine inside the extension. ## Pin a scent 1. Add a **Pinned Scent** widget. 2. Open the system's widget-editing controls. 3. Choose the fragrance to keep in that widget. An unconfigured Pinned Scent widget asks you to choose a scent rather than silently substituting another fragrance. ## Add a Lock Screen widget 1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen and tap **Customize**. 2. Select the Lock Screen, then tap the widget area. 3. Find Orrique and add the inline, circular, or rectangular widget you want. 4. Tap **Done**. Available Lock Screen families include Scent of the Day, Pinned Scent, Rhythm, Rate Yesterday, Running Low, Scent Fingerprint, and Quick Actions. The system applies the Lock Screen tint. A tracked wear can also appear as a Live Activity, which is separate from the widgets you add here. Its compact card keeps the scent identity, timer, progress, phase, and **Check-in** action visible. VoiceOver announces the scent, elapsed time, and wear progress. If a short observation and guided cue are both available, the observation takes the single detail line. Search for **Quick-Log a Scent**. 3. Add the control, then configure the fragrance it should log. 4. Leave the scent unset only when you want the control to use the day's suggested pick before your first wear. The control label shows the scent that will be logged. A press records the wear in the background using that scent's usual settings and briefly confirms the result. After you have logged a wear, an unconfigured control changes to **Choose a scent** and will not silently log a second recommendation. Touch and hold it to set the intended fragrance. A configured control continues to log its chosen fragrance. **Open the Layering Room** is a separate control.
