Read Bottle uses a photo of a bottle or box to begin an Add Fragrance draft. It reads visible label text on your device, then can check public catalog or web information for missing public fragrance facts.

## Scan a bottle

1. Open **Collection** and tap the add button.
2. Tap **Read Bottle**.
3. Photograph the front label or choose a clear existing photo.
4. Review the detected brand, fragrance name, concentration, size, and other suggested details.
5. Correct anything that is wrong or uncertain.
6. Save only when the draft matches the bottle in front of you.

Read Bottle prefills a draft. It does not silently add or overwrite a fragrance.

On iPhone and iPad, choosing an existing image opens one full-screen system Photo Library and returns to the same Read Bottle draft after you choose or cancel. If the selected image cannot finish transferring within 20 seconds, Orrique shows a retry message instead of leaving the scan waiting.

## Take a useful photo

- Fill the frame with the label or box front.
- Use even light and avoid glare across the text.
- Keep the brand and fragrance name in focus.
- If the front does not show concentration or size, add those details yourself after the scan.

## What happens to the image

Label text and supported barcodes are read on your device. Orrique prepares the selected image once for both checks, with an extra text pass only when the first label result is too sparse. When the local evidence is incomplete, Orrique may use public catalog or web lookup to identify public facts about the fragrance. Your diary, private notes, wear history, and saved prices are not part of that lookup.

Smart text cleanup needs Apple Intelligence on a supported iPhone or iPad. Read Bottle is not available on Mac or Apple Watch.

## Free scans and Pro

The free plan includes 3 Read Bottle scans. This is a one-time trial allowance, not a monthly grant. Pro includes unlimited scanning.

Your remaining free scans appear in Settings. See [Free vs Pro](https://help.orrique.com/Free_vs_Pro/) for the full plan comparison.

## If the result is incomplete

- Retake the photo closer to the main label.
- Enter uncertain fields by hand instead of accepting a guess.
- Use **Find details** in the add flow when you already know the brand and fragrance name.
- Save the fragrance with the facts you know, then edit it later from Fragrance Details.

> **Check before saving.**
> Packaging variants, flankers, and similarly named releases can look alike. Treat the scan as a draft and compare the proposed name and concentration with the bottle.

See [Your Collection](https://help.orrique.com/Collection/) for the rest of the add flow and [Troubleshooting](https://help.orrique.com/Troubleshooting/) if the camera or scan is unavailable.
