# The Layering Room > Start with one fragrance, explore compatible partners from your collection, and save a promising pairing as a repeatable formula. It uses the scent evidence in your collection to rank possible partners and explain the relationship without changing either fragrance. (Screenshot on the web page: Choose the two layers, then adjust their order and sprays before saving the combination.) ## Find a pairing 1. Open **The Layering Room** from Formulas, a fragrance page, a Today layer suggestion, Control Center, Siri or Shortcuts, or its `orrique://layeringroom` link. 2. Choose the fragrance you want to start with. 3. Review the suggested partners from your collection. 4. Select a partner to see the balance, likely effect, and application order. 5. Save the combination as a [formula](https://help.orrique.com/Glossary/#term-formula) when you want to keep it. The pairing list favors evidence that complements or supports the starting scent. Changing the selected scent refreshes the same drawer instead of opening a second workflow. From a fragrance page, tap a fragrance inside **Layers well with** to open the Layering Room with both that fragrance and the suggested partner already selected. After you log a single fragrance, Today may show one **Try a layer** suggestion; once a layered wear exists, the Today card names every layer and wears the stacked formula emblem. Opening it prepares the exact pair shown on Today. If the collection or saved formulas change while Today is hidden, the last complete suggestion stays in place during the tab change and is checked once after Today settles. The destination keeps the pair you chose rather than silently replacing its partner during navigation. Choosing **Wear this** saves the pair as a formula, then opens the log sheet prefilled with its layers so you set sprays and setting deliberately instead of getting defaults. If today's diary already carries one of the layers, Orrique asks first: **Add to today's wear** folds the new layer into that entry and keeps its sprays, occasion, and placement, while **Log a separate wear** starts a fresh prefilled entry. If today's wear already includes every layer, only the formula is saved, so nothing is double-counted. If the Layering Room was opened inside a stable fragrance detail path, Orrique can restore that route after a system relaunch. A temporary sheet and an unsaved pairing are not reopened automatically. On iPhone, selecting a partner opens its actions and explanation in a bottom drawer. The drawer reaches the lower screen edge and covers the tab bar while it is open. Long reads scroll inside the drawer, and you can swipe down from its top edge to dismiss it. ## Build a stack The stack shows application order from the first layer to the last. Adjust the order or sprays before saving when one scent should sit closer to the skin or remain lighter in the blend. For a reusable oil, lotion, or other foundation, choose a saved [scent base](https://help.orrique.com/Glossary/#term-base). A base's history can show fragrances you have previously worn over it. ## Understand the explanation The checked summary describes the relationship using the supplied families, [accords](https://help.orrique.com/Glossary/#term-accord), notes, and application choices. It may identify a safer balance, a contrast, or a reason the combination could become crowded. > **Pro: Optional written expansion.** > Pro can add a private on-device written expansion when the device supports the required Apple Intelligence path. The checked relationship summary remains available without waiting for generated text. Generated writing is optional. If it is unavailable or cannot be validated against the supplied scent facts, the checked summary remains the answer. ## Pairings worth skipping A lower-ranked or cautioned pairing is not a rule against wearing it. It means the available evidence suggests overlap, imbalance, or a less flexible result. Try a lighter spray count or keep the scents separate if the combination feels crowded on skin. ## Save the result Choose the save action to create a formula from the current stack. The saved formula becomes the canonical place to edit sprays, wear the combination, favorite it, or share it later. Back in Formulas, the saved card uses a soft band derived from the whole stack's combined scent signature. This color does not change the saved layers or their order. > **One-time experiment.** > You can leave the Layering Room without saving.
