# Formulas and Bases

> Create repeatable fragrance formulas, control their order and sprays, and reuse scent bases without losing the original recipe.

A formula records the fragrances or bases you layer together, their order, and their sprays. Use it when you want to repeat a combination rather than make a one-time pairing in the Layering Room.

## Build a formula

1. Open **Formulas** from the Today toolbar on iPhone, or from the sidebar on iPad or Mac.
2. Tap the add button.
3. Name the formula and add the fragrances or scent bases in application order.
4. Set sprays and any notes that help you repeat it.
5. Save.

Open a saved formula to adjust its components, mark it as a favorite, wear it, or share it.

Formula changes also refresh any **Try a layer** suggestion attached to the latest single-fragrance wear on Today. This prevents Today from keeping a partner based on an older saved combination.

The softly tinted band at the top of a formula card represents the combined scent signature. The overlapping bottles are display-sized previews that fill in as each photo finishes loading, without needing to open the formula first. Orrique keeps each original bottle photo unchanged for fragrance details and Share Studio.

On iPhone, close Formulas with **Done** or by dismissing the sheet. You return to the same position on Today, which continues to scroll vertically and stays fixed side to side.

## Wear a formula

Choose **Wear** when you want to log the combination immediately. Choose **Track this wear** when you want one live session for the blend. Orrique saves the formula as one combined wear while keeping the component scents available for later reference.

## Add a scent base

A scent base represents something you layer with fragrances but do not want to treat as a normal bottle in your collection, such as an oil, lotion, or recurring base blend.

1. Open the scent-base area from Formulas.
2. Add the base name and the scent information you know.
3. Save the base.
4. Add it to a formula in the same way you add a fragrance.

When adding or replacing a personal Base image on iPhone or iPad, **Photo Library** uses one full-screen system picker and returns to the same Base editor after you choose or cancel. If the selected image cannot finish transferring within 20 seconds, Orrique shows a retry message instead of leaving the editor waiting. Files and Paste remain available.

The Base catalog shows a shared product photo when one has been published. That photo also acts as the fallback for a saved base and its formula layers. If you add a personal photo to your saved base, your photo takes priority in your own bases and formulas. Shared photos refresh onto existing installs as well as newly added catalog entries.

Edit a base when its details change. Existing formulas continue to refer to the saved base rather than creating separate copies.

## Share or remove a formula

Open the formula options to create a share card, favorite the formula, or delete it. Deleting the formula does not delete its fragrances, bases, or past Diary wears.
